'Psybersects' possesses impressive drumming styles, especially on the opening track. The keyboards are well used and interlace with the accompanying instruments when required. This coupled with the overall theme of the album should ensure a pleasurable release but, the music quickly moves from one mood to another - becoming unsettling for the wrong reasons. In saying that some of the disparity is premeditated and manages to gel the compositions together, sounding in parts akin to one of Carpenter's scores or early Goblin. the underscored ritual current becomes more evident as the album progresses. There's some interesting experimentation such as the use of electric guitar to expand a track as well as drifting female vocals. Again, the album really finds its feet towards it latter half producing more cohesion amongst the tracks in both their structure and relationship. A challenging listen but one that commands your full attention to its eclectic sounds. www.myspace.com/chaoticum www.skullline.com www.myspace.com/skullline
